With cut down day here and gone let's sit back and look at this roster again.
First and foremost the running backs...Why three and two fullbacks?
The Pack loves that power set with 2 fullbacks and a running back...even saw the Badgers use that formation yesterday. They believe as do I that Lumpkin is a talented running back with a huge upside. He was the only back in pre-season to run a screen for positive yardage and his short yardage running was something we haven't had in a few years.
The Quarterback situation was about what I expected....unless TT signs a vet in the next couple of days what you see is what you get. Both Simms and Bollinger are being pursued so if the Packers want one of them they better get busy.
Defensive tackle is somewhat puzzling but then again none of the players cut had a stealer camp.... a trade or pick up is possible. The Pack can shuffle Montgomery or Jenkins inside maybe just maybe they have some more exotic schemes up thee sleeve.
Both Linebacker and defensive back cuts where no surprise though I hate keeping Jarret Bush...I do understand the teams thinking on the matter.
Offensive line looks OK if they can stay healthy...still not sold on Josh Sitton at right guard but time will tell.
A long snapper will be signed and according to reports Tracy White is the odd man out...which makes me concerned about special teams cover units. I thought Spencer Havner out played White but was cut...has to be a numbers game.
Overall I am excited to see this group play together...Like most fans I have concerns about depth and inexperienced but that long strike in the last game kind of makes you wonder " what did they really show in the pre-season"?
